Most insurance policies cover the NormaTec PCD for a variety of conditions associated with poor circulation such as edema (swelling), chronic wounds, venous insufficiency, and lymphedema.

Accredited Medicare Supplier - Exemplary Provider

Medicare

The NormaTec PCD is considered Durable Medical Equipment (DME) that is used in the home setting and is covered under Medicare Part B for following diagnoses:

  • Chronic venous insufficiency with chronic wounds
  • Lymphedema
  • (Other diagnoses may be covered on a case-by-case basis)

Medicare does not require any pre-authorization.

Non-Medicare Insurance

Most private insurance plans cover the NormaTec PCD, including Traditional Indemnity plans, Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO), Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO), Point of Service Plans (POS), Medicare Advantage Plans, among many others.

Some plans may require pre-authorization, which may take up to two weeks or more for approval (although generally the timeframe is 48-72 hours). Coverage for the NormaTec PCD varies depending on your plan.
